The Pepperell and Lincoln mills in Saco and Biddeford have been reborn as restaurants, breweries, maker spaces, and apartments. Downtown Sanford's Number One Pond and Mill Yard host the SoMe Flea, summer concerts, and the rebuilt Goodall Park. Kennebunk's Dock Square and Lower Village mix sea-captain homes with indie shops and bakeries. Gorham Village anchors a walkable Main Street next to the University of Southern Maine, with the Baxter Memorial Library and a busy farmers market. Main Street programs in all five towns run summer concerts, farmers markets, art walks, and seasonal festivals that bring the whole community out.
