Summer at the beaches
Pine Point in Scarborough, Crescent Beach State Park, Scarborough Beach, Higgins Beach, Ferry Beach in Saco, and the full sweep of Old Orchard sand. Lifeguards, snack shacks, tide pools, and ocean cold enough to count as a plunge.
Marshes & preserves
The Scarborough Marsh is the largest salt marsh in Maine — kayak rentals, boardwalks, and herons. The Rachel Carson and Wells National Estuarine Research Reserve protect miles of trail and coastline.
Fall foliage & winter
Inland routes through Hollis and Limington light up first. Then the snow comes, and the beach walks get quieter, the coffee gets stronger, and the OOB pier hosts winter events when the summer crowds are gone.
Pier nightlife
Old Orchard's pier district keeps the lights on all summer — live music, fried dough, and fireworks on Thursday nights.
